a community clean up of the Kurashiki Garden in Halswell Quarry Park
Members of the Japanese community had a clean up of the Kurashiki Garden at the Quarry this morning in preparation for the Cherry Blossom festival being held there in two weeks- on Sun 22nd. We hope the weather will be a bit warmer and drier to really celebrate the day.
It's a pleasure to have Consul Mr Dabide Tsunakake there as well helping out
(don't get me wrong the maintenance team there are doing a good job, we are coming out of winter. It took less than an hour and the area looks fab 🤩 the blossoms will be wonderful this year)

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
