Whitebait season starts tomorrow!

The Team from Waimakariri District Council

We love to see everyone getting out and enjoying our beaches as the mercury rises, and here some friendly reminders for a successful Whitebait season:
🎣 Make sure you're up to date on Whitebait fishing regulations on the Department of Conservation website at ow.ly...
🎫 A permit is required for vehicle access to the Ashley River mouth during the whitebaiting season - permits can be purchased from the Rangiora and Kaiapoi Service Centres
🏕️ Camping on the beach is not permitted 🚫 Check out freedom camping spots on our website.
🐣 It is nesting season for our native birdlife so please be mindful, particularly when driving on the beach

Mei Leng Wong Reporter from NZ Gardener & Get Growing

Kia ora neighbours. We know your tomato plants are still growing, but we're looking ahead to the harvest already! If you've got a family recipe for tomatoes, we'd love to see it and maybe publish it in our magazine to share with our readers. Send your recipe to mailbox@nzgardener.co.nz, and if we use it in the mag, you will receive a free copy of our February 2025 issue.
