🚧 The general rubbish pit at Southbrook Resource Recovery Park will be closed for maintenance on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 August. πŸ”§πŸš«

The Team from Waimakariri District Council

Contractors will be on site to renew a section of the floor that has reached the end of its life.

The green waste area, recycling centre and Resale Shop will remain open, and we will continue to accept Council-branded rubbish bags at the recycling centre.

Waimakariri Councillor Robbie Brine says the transfer station was built over 25 years ago.

β€œMore than 416,000 tonnes of rubbish has been dropped into the pit and pushed into the compactor since the site opened in mid-1998, and this section of the pit floor has reached the end of its life. This renewal will ensure that we can keep providing the expected level of service to our customers until we can complete our planned site upgrades.”

Got more greens than you know what to do with? πŸ₯¦πŸŒ±πŸ₯•

Whether it’s a courgette takeover or a feijoa frenzy, don’t let those garden gems go to waste!

Our suggestion to you: Did you know you can grate and freeze excess courgettes to use in chocolate cake later? It sounds a bit dodgy, but it makes the cake incredibly moist ... and hey, it counts as a serving of veg, right? 🍫
