TRAINS
I have not seen any complaints posted or on the net of the noise from the trains on the new tracks since they started travel again this month. I live in Ireland Road where the track has no corners which kiwirail advertise can cause a screeching noise. Although I do not reside on the same side of the road as the tracks, I can hear clearly a screeching from quite a distance of an oncoming train that did not seem to be there previous to the new works carried out. Some trains are worse than others and commonly wake me during the night.
Is anyone else being affected by this noise?

Night-time chipsealing works on SH2
From 9 to 17 February, stop/go traffic management will be in place on SH2 between McPherson Road and Dimmock Road on multiple nights between 9pm and 5am (Sundays to Thursdays).
During the day, all lanes will be open, but speed restrictions will apply to allow the chipseal to set and to protect vehicles travelling over the newly laid surface.
There may be delays to your journey when travelling through the area. This is weather dependent so check NZTA Journey Planner before you travel.
