Disney Concert this weekend in Upper Hutt

Karen Boyce from Major Minors Children's Choir

Two local Choirs The Hutt Valley Singers and The Major Minors Children’s Choir are putting the finishing touches on their DisneyTwo Concert coming up this Sunday.

Musical Director of both choirs Joanne Roelofs has been planning this for a while. "Originally planned for 2021 and postponed twice because of Covid-19 it seems fitting that this concert is the first of the Hutt Valley Singers 90th Anniversary concert series. The adult choir supported the
beginnings of the major Minors Children’s choir and when the two choirs come together it’s a big exciting sound. Each choir has their own songs and the combined ones will be a highlight and lots of fun” says Joanne.

On the programme are songs from a range of Disney Movies including The Lion King, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Moana, Aladdin and more. Expect a bit of Disney Magic and surprises too!

Tickets to the concert being held at St Hilda’s Church Hall 35 Cruickshank Road are $15 for adults, $10 for senior/students and $5 for children under 12.

Tickets available online at majorminors.org.nz...

Limited door sales available.

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”

We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?

Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
