Destruction of tree
This massive oak tree in Waikare Road was chopped down last week. The house next to it has also gone. While I agree with more intensive housing, it shouldn't be at the expense of nature. Maybe there was something wrong with the tree, but it looked healthy. Surely it could have stayed and been incorporated into any new build.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
