Meadowbank Toastmasters - Tuesday, April 6th Meeting Awards winners

Barry Shaw from Meadowbank Toastmasters

It is not unusual to see one of our guests stand up and present a 1-2 minute impromptu speech in response to a question: we always give each guest an opportunity to say something, even if it's only a few seconds long.
This time, our guest won the impromptu speech section: Best Table Topics Speaker!

it is exciting to see people take a step towards being a speaker with confidence and begin an adventurous journey in gaining leadership skills.

Congratulations to our 3 winners, and especially to our amazing guest, the Table Topics winner!

Staying home over the break?

Toka Tū Ake EQC

The long weekend is the perfect time to make your place safer for an earthquake with these steps:

• Find out where you can turn off your water and gas mains
• Check your chimney for any signs of wear and tear, or damage
• Check your home's foundations are secured
• Move heavy items that are up high to safer, lower down locations.
• Secure tall and heavy furniture and appliances

These simple actions can keep your whānau safer in case of a big shake, so tick them off and make the most of your break.
