Beautiful pure black male cat

Kimberley from Glen Eden

We would like to find a home for this wee fella. The vet reckons he's about 2 years old. He turned up at our place a few months ago and we've been feeding him so he's in pretty good shape. He's initially shy but warms up pretty fast. Tried to get him to the SPCA but was told that he would most likely get euthanized as they're overloaded with kittens. Sometime before he turned up at ours, he was neutered by the SPCA and then returned to our area (has the tell-tale snipped ear). We would dearly love to keep him but already adopted two strays in the past year.

Staying home over the break?

Toka Tū Ake EQC

The long weekend is the perfect time to make your place safer for an earthquake with these steps:

• Find out where you can turn off your water and gas mains
• Check your chimney for any signs of wear and tear, or damage
• Check your home's foundations are secured
• Move heavy items that are up high to safer, lower down locations.
• Secure tall and heavy furniture and appliances

These simple actions can keep your whānau safer in case of a big shake, so tick them off and make the most of your break.
