AED's for Kaiteriteri and surrounding bay areas
This is a great segment, to publicize the need for AED's and people who have learnt how to use them in the community. Most people do not realize that for the best outcome, like this, an AED has to be accessed within 4 minutes of an episode. Members of our community have come together and formed the Kaiteri AED Fund to raise money to put AED's in lockboxes that are available 24/7 in small coastal areas that are used by many holiday makers and visitors as well as residents. In these areas emergency services are at least 30 minutes away. So far we have funded and installed one AED in Little Kaiteriteri - Our Neighbourhood near one of the busiest beaches in the South Island and we are working on raising funds from donations to install another four and to keep all maintained. If you would like to donate please message for Community fund bank account details.
