Amended application made for liquor outlet in Amberley
An application for a Thirsty Liquor store on the main street of the North Canterbury has been withdrawn and a second application lodged – this time for a shop with a black exterior – after some submitters expressed concern about a having "big orange shop" in the town.
The revised liquor licence application closes for feedback on Tuesday (March 3).
The Health Promotion Agency is sponsoring Community Law to run a workshop on how to make a submission. It will explain the Sale And Supply Act 2012 and how to make an objection that is based in law. All are welcome to attend the workshop, which will be held on Thursday (February 27) in the RSA room of the Amberley Library from 5pm to 6.30pm.

Poll: Would you take a 1.5-hour hike for a shop? 🌿🐦
Canterbury, you have a hidden treasure right on your doorstep ... though it does come with a 1.5-hour walk up the stunning Rakaia Gorge Walkway.
Along the trail you’ll find The Fantail Shop showcasing small artworks by local artisans. Even better, every purchase supports the Fantail Trust, helping protect and restore biodiversity on the north bank of the gorge.
So we’re curious: would you take a 1.5-hour hike for a shop? (And for local biodiversity, of course 🌿)
-
31.7% Yes!
