Refuse collection
Hi people its that time of the year, public holidays and changes to the refuse collections. If it was always consistent it would be great but the contractors currently choose the dates so here is the list, www.mpdc.govt.nz..., remeber that if you hve excess recycling you can take it to the refuse transfer stations at no charge, another benefit of living in the Matamata Piako District, some of our neighbours now charge for taking recyclables to their transfer stations.
Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

Wild weather in the Waikato
The Waikato really copped it over the weekend, with wild weather leaving a hefty clean-up bill that may run into the millions.
