High levels of faeces found in Akaroa water
A health warning has been issued after high levels of faecal bacteria were found in Takamatua Bay and Akaroa beach.
People have been warned not to use the water for recreational use, including swimming and collecting shellfish.
Canterbury medical officer of health Alistair Humphrey said if people ignored the warnings, they could risk exposure to harmful pathogens and bacteria.
