Ashburton mayoralty race under way
Ashburton mayor Donna Favel is also seeking a second term and has three contenders: councillor Leen Braam, deputy mayor Neil Brown, and retired businessman Tony Todd. There is no shortage of council candidates either, with 10 nominations for the five seats on the Ashburton ward.
Three people have been nominated for the Western ward, which has two vacancies available, while four people are going for the Eastern ward (two vacancies), and 10 for the Ashburton ward (five vacancies).
Only four people have put their names forward for the Methven Community Board, which has five seats available.
Nine people are in the running for the six spots available on the Ashburton Licensing Trust.
