PUBLIC MEETING ON FAMILY VIOLENCE

Lindsay Upton from Manukau East Council of Social Services (MECOSS)

Join Simeon Brown and special guest David White for a discussion on family violence and what we should be doing to combat it.

David White is the father of Helen Meads, who was murdered by her husband in 2009 after years of psychological and physical abuse. Since then, David has been campaigning around the country to bring further awareness to New Zealand's family violence issues and has acted as a support person for other victims. He has also met with his daughter's murderer several times in an effort to move on for the sake of his grandchildren, so he is better placed than most to understand the significance of the problem.

As part of his visit to Pakuranga, David will be giving a presentation to tell his story and speak about what he is hoping to achieve for New Zealand. Family violence is far too common in our country, so please come along to hear what he has to say so we can tackle this problem as a community.

Light refreshments will be provided.

DAY & DATE: Friday, 3 May 2019
TIME: 1:00pm-2:00pm
VENUE:  Fencible Lounge, 25 Uxbridge Road, Howick
ENTRY:  No charge
