Loophole in Auckland freedom camping bylaw could mean people parking up on most roads and parks

A loophole in Auckland Council's proposed freedom camping bylaw could mean the practice would go unenforced on any roads, parks and reserves without a parking restriction.
Kaipātiki Local Board chairman John Gillon said Auckland Council had not included a general rule in the new bylaw which would limit freedom campers only to designated areas.
"The old bylaw included a rule of no camping anywhere in any public place, but the new one does not have that, which means freedom camping could be permitted outside of the designated areas, and legally could not be enforced," Gillon said.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
