Have you got some time to volunteer- we need your skills?

The Team from Ormiston ReStore Charity Shop (HabitatAuckland)

Have you discovered the wonders of the varied and unique stock (furniture, building supplies, clothing, appliances, computers to name a few) at our fantastic Ormiston ReStore?
Gosh that place is hard to leave with out taking something home with you !
If you haven’t we welcome you anytime ...

But this message is a request for help!

We are in need of some wonderful volunteers to donate some of their time . There’s a job for everyone .

Work behind the counter, use your Interior Design and Retail skills to present our fab stock at its best or sort our donations as they arrive. Maybe you're drawn to driving or being our 'Fix it person'.

Lastly if you are good with Facebook and Trade me and are willing to give a few hours a week to post and answer questions- ‘we need you' !!!

Our wonderful ReStore staff, look forward to hearing from you.

Please make contact with our great Operations manager Annie Hurley - annie.hurley@habitat.org.nz or phone 09 271 3357 or pm us here.

We’re happy to work in with whatever days and times are best for you !

Come and make some new friends, learn some new skills and really make a difference.

By Volunteering at ReStore you are actively supporting Habitat for Humanity to achieve their vision of giving a 'hand up not a hand out' to hard working families ‘ helping everyone to have a decent place to live’.

He waka eke noa (we're all in this together)

We look forward to hearing from you 🙂

Assault on Chinese schoolboy on Pakuranga bus.

Stephen from Pakuranga Heights

First of all, I wish the the boy a speedy recovery from this ghastly and traumatising assault on him. However, the mental scarring will take much longer .
What gives someone the right to attack another person who is of a different ethnicity ?
The attack was premeditated as the attacker boarded the bus with a long steel rod . The apathy shown by fellow passengers, apart from one, is a sad reflection of what is becoming the norm in NZ ; the acceptance of random acts of violence . People walking out of supermarkets with trolley loads of ‘free ‘ goods , ram raids, attacks on shop owners are far too common, as are racial attacks.
The answer may lie in a more caring and friendly attitude towards our fellow human beings. NZ once had this, in days gone by . It’s not too late ..
