Urgently required,

Lyn Neighbourly Lead from Ngatea

We have a young man 17yrs old from Germany coming to NZ July 20th. He urgently needs a loving family home. Has won awards for his art work, very sporty. His parents describe him as sociable, open minded, independent, uncomplicated reliable and honest. He has worked hard with various part time jobs to be able come to NZ.
This student is in New Zealand for 10 months .

Hosting a exchange student fosters lifelong friendships and deeper understanding of other cultures. It’s like gaining a new family member, you get to learn about another language and culture as well as share the beauty and culture of New Zealand.

By offering to act as a host family in a volunteer capacity (No board money is paid) you will provide an exchange student with the opportunity to study and experience life here in New Zealand.
Host families provide a bed, meals, as well as friendship, understanding, and a desire to share their kiwi way of life. All students speak English, are covered by medical insurance and have spending money for their personal expenses. They attend the high school/ college closest to their host family's home.

We know this is a big ask, it’s not for everyone, our families who are hosting get rewarded in so many other ways. Our own NZ students also have voluntary host families when they do their exchange in any one of our 26 countries.

SEANZ families are diverse! Traditional two-parent families (with or without children), single parents or adults, and retired couples all make wonderful host families.
If your family can offer a friendly supportive and caring home environment, contact us today.
Start making a difference in a young person's life and yours! . If you have ever considered hosting or are interested in finding out more about hosting.
Please message me.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
