Our SPCA Op Shop in Whitianga is urgently seeking high-quality homeware, women's and men's clothing, footwear, books, CDs, DVDs, and accessories to fill our shelves. Additionally, we welcome any small pieces of furniture that you can drop off at the shop — your donations will be greatly appreciated. All funds from the sale of these items will go back to helping the animals in our care.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
