Mussel spat farm for Mercury Bay?
An application to construct a spat catching farm in Mercury Bay will have its first hearing this week.
The proposal has faced opposition from the public, with 195 of the 204 submitters against it. One submitter said the proposed site of the farm was "clearly the wrong location" for a commercial fisheries operation, and that it'd be an "eyesore on a pristine coastline".
