What do you think of Kāinga Ora building high-rise apartments in Whangārei?
Government agency Kāinga Ora wants to build high-rise apartment blocks in Whangārei to help combat a housing shortage of 4500 Northland homes.
It told the Whangārei District Council it would like to buy two prime CBD sites - the Vinery Lane car park and a vacant lot at 10 Dent St - so it can build apartments, which could be used for social housing or sold at market prices.
