Oh You Killers - Protest Song No Sand Mining Bream Bay
My name is Rupert Newbold and I am a longtime resident of Ocean Beach, Whangarei Heads. I have lived most of my life in this area am a keen surfer and fisherman and am very involved in various aspects of landcare and conservation here. I wrote this song mostly because I am strongly opposed to seabed sandmining and due to the fast-track process the general population doesn't get a say in any decision making. So, I am making my thoughts known and trying to get the message out to more people, because hopefully weight of numbers will affect to decision process in our favour.

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
