Boarder/Flatmate wanted

Jo from Maunu

Hi the house is in Maunu with a bush at the back of a 100sqm deck and a farm where you are allowed to go for walks. It's not far from town and at the end of a cul de sac. We get all sorts of different bush birds at different times and it is very peaceful and private.

I am seeking a female boarder/flatmate for either a short or long-term stay.

You have a choice of bedroom 1 at $175pw or bedroom 2 also has a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite at the opposite end of the house, with a lovely garden&bush view out the window for only an extra $20pw. There is also a dove who frequents near the window as I feed it seeds and in the garden, the magnolia is starting to flower.

Unlimited internet is included, as is water rates. Share power and do your own food. Not suitable for night shift workers, sorry.

Phone or text 027 5141 394 to find out more or you can just come and meet me and take a look. :-) Cheers, Jo

What workplace change would you like to see most?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

This coming Monday is Labour Day in New Zealand. This public holiday marks when the eight-hour workday and 48-hour workweek became law in 1899. The idea started with Samuel Parnell, a carpenter in Wellington, who in 1840 refused to work more than eight hours a day. Since skilled workers were in short supply, his employer had to agree.

As more skilled workers arrived, employers tried to change working conditions, but Parnell and others kept pushing for better rights. In 1890, Parnell led a Labour Day parade of 1,500 people to promote the eight-hour day. He passed away shortly after, and nine years later, Labour Day became an official public holiday.

Do you feel that we have reached the ideal in working environments yet? What rights are you passionate about relating to employment? Share your thoughts!
