Heavy rain and thunderstorm warning
A slow-moving low over the far north and an intense ridge of high pressure to the south are expected to bring heavy rain and thunderstorms over today and tomorrow morning.
Warning amounts of rain are likely. The heaviest rain is expected to affect the eastern hills of Northland. Heavy rain may cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly. Surface flooding and slips are also possible and driving conditions may be hazardous.
Remember:
- Drive to the conditions and plan your travel via NZTA
- Keep up to date with the latest forecasts and warning via MetService.
- Post an urgent alert if you need to alert neighbours to slips or surface flooding.
- For information on preparing for and keeping safe during a storm, see the Civil
Defence Get Ready Get Thru website.
