Brynderwyn Tunnel

Roger from Kamo

Does anyone know if there has been a cost analysis done on drilling a tunnel through the Brynderwyns ?
I believe that it would be half the length of the Auckland Waterview tunnel.
If Auckland can have a tunnel, so should Northland.
It would be less disruptive to people owning land on any new proposed road.
Instead of a current road and a new separate road, how about drilling a four lane highway through the Brynderwyns. Use the separate road money towards that.
A tunnel is more resilient to washouts than a road.
Maintenance on one road will be less than maintaining two separate roads.
Also just wondering if the logging that has been done to the land at the top of he Brynderwyns has contributed to the slips. It looks like it has.
