Driving Carefully on our roads
Just hope everyone drive to the conditions of the roads watch for turning cars and other things on the road.
Yesterday was a very lucky day for two cars on Riverside Drive around 2pm on Monday.
It was great some nice lady stop to help, even if it was to allow another person to sit in their car until the ambulance turn ups. Someone with a large first aid kit and large fire extinguisher.
There was "caring" from the person who said sorry a few times...from one of the cars that was involved. It was nice to hear.
It was good to see so many Police and Fire services with two Ambulances who came to help.
The sad thing I want to get to is how "dumb" are drivers who goes past a accident who doesn't slow down when someone with a high vis vest waves their hands to slow down the car/s just speed past. How many of you were those car who didn't know to SLOW DOWN?
I'm glad that everyone wasn't hurt to bad as being a first responder at the scene.
Hey please drive slow past an accident, if you have any skills please stop and help. Thanks to all the others who did stop to help it shows we do have a caring community.
Thanks Tony Gill

Lovers Lane opens
It's open! This morning we held a blessing for the new pathway, bridge and boardwalk in Lovers' Lane that connects the Kamo Shared Path with the Raumanga Shared Path.
You can access it from Cafler Park, Second Avenue, or between the Central Library and the council building, Te Iwitahi. The walking and cycling pathway includes a new paved area, Te Ara Hīkoi ki Kauika (the pathway to Kauika), a replaced bridge over the Waiarohia Stream, and a new boardwalk in Cafler Park.
The design is by Littoralis, Hawthorn Geddes and Boffa Miskell, connecting to the natural environment and local history. The high quality of construction was by local contractors including Canam, Robinson Asphalts, Culham Engineering, Northland Metal Industries (NMI), Ezra Bell, BDX Engineering and more.
