THE GREAT LILLIAN HALL
USA, 2024 drama, 105 mins,
Rated M (strong language)
Cast: Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Lily Rabe, Pierce Brosnan.
Over a career of 30 years, beloved Broadway star, Lillian Hall (Jessica Lange) has always put her heart and soul into each of her leading roles on stage.
But with her latest play, Chekov's the Cherry Orchard, Lillian finds herself blindsided by bouts of confusion and forgetfulness.
Battling to retain her character's lines and her own identity for opening night, Lillian's tumultuous emotional journey finds her forced to balance her need for the spotlight with the demands of the real world.
"Lange is perfect in the role of a stage diva and her struggle with dementia. The script delicately deals with the subject matter but also makes you laugh out loud." - Variety
