Ruapekapeka Pā, just north of Whangārei, will get $8.5m in funding, including $2m to help improve the visitor experience and $6.5m to seal its access road. The pā is one of the best preserved battlefields from the NZ Wars and has been credited for the start of modern trench warfare. Have you been to the pā?
