Whangarei Film Society - suspension of screenings till further notice.
Dear film fans,
Re: COVID-19 LEVEL 2 ALERT SYSTEM:
Today, PM Jacinda Ardern and the NZ Government announced that New Zealand has moved into an alert system to meet the challenges of COVID-19 Coronavirus.
With the earlier directive this week of limiting indoor events to under 100 people and for people to observe physical distancing of 1.5 metres, we have the additional restrictions of people 70 and over, or anyone with health issues staying at home as much as possible. Therefore, we have taken the 'big picture' position to postpone our film nights for the foreseeable future.
We have made this decision for the health, safety and wellbeing of our members, our committee and team of voluteer staff and all attendees.
We greatly enjoy the sense of community and social nature of our film nights, in bringing people together to watch and enjoy films that transport us to so many places. We will miss this, as we know you will. We encourage you to post on Whangarei Film Society's facebook page to keep in contact and continue that sense of community.
We look forward to continuing our 2020 film season at a later date, so we can once again enjoy your company. We will keep you updated via email and by posting onto our website.
Noho ora mai, keep well

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
