The "President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992", states that all of the government’s JFK assassination records must be publicly released and made available in the National Archives no later than 25 years after the JFK Records Act was passed.


But the act also says the President of the day can decide the release would be a threat to national security and shouldn’t be released. Some of the CIA officials who testified at the inquiry had ties to CIA assassination missions in Cuba, so they won't be happy.
