Alzheimers Northland Annual Memory Walks 2017
Hi Whangarei Neighbours -
Here's something fun to look forward to - the annual Alzheimers Northland Memory Walk. In all 4 Northland locations listed below, the walk is short, social and easy, if you want it to be. Of course you can run it three times if you want to work up an appetite! The purpose is to raise awareness about the devastating effects Alzheimers/dementia have on families in our Northland communities, what services are available to those affected, and how we as individuals can help. It's also about meeting people.
Whangarei - Canopy Bridge, Sunday 17 September, 12 noon
Kaitaia - Community House, Saturday 23 September, 12 noon
Kerikeri - Kerikeri Domain, Saturday 23 September, 12 noon
Dargaville - Countdown carpark, Saturday 23 September, 12 noon
No donations are expected, but of course they are appreciated. If you want to get more involved, this year people will be able to register for Memory Walks online — and fund raise. By registering online, people will get the option to simply collect a free T-shirt at the start of the walk, donate, register a team or even create a fundraising page. This is similar to Give a Little, where an individual (or team) can gather donations for their participation in the Memory Walk from friends, family or colleagues.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
