Cat taken from Orewa by mistake - read the story
PLEASE HELP US FIND HIS FAMILY.
This is the face of a miracle belonging to an almost unbelievable story of survival.
On Tuesday 5th of June, a man drove nearly 5 hours from Auckland to New Plymouth, making no stops on the way. But what he didn’t know was that this beautiful cat was hiding in the grill space on the very front of the car and hanging on so hard he lost claws...
The cat wasn’t discovered until the car was parked outside a New Plymouth hotel where passers by saw him and alerted staff who contacted North Taranaki SPCA. Our SPCA Inspectors then rushed him to Vets4Pets New Plymouth.
He was in severe shock and hypothermic - it was touch and go initially, but thankfully he is now eating, drinking and totally unconcerned about being at the vets. We are so happy he made it!
BUT now we NEED to find his family. There were no stops during the car drive so he is from Auckland, possibly Glenfield. If you recognise him please contact North Taranaki's SPCA Centre by calling them on 06 7582053 and please SHARE this post ...let’s get this incredible kitty back home! <3
Some Choice News!
DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.
Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.
For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.
Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?
We hope this brings a smile!
