Darling Rosie, our cat is looking for a new home

Dion from Orewa

Hello Neighbours

With much regret and as we temporarily relocate to the UK our darling Rosie is looking for someone that can love her just as much as we do.

A beautiful soul, that found her way to our door step looking undernourished and in need of some cuddles, 2 years ago. We tried hard to search for her old owner, but with no microchip and response to neighbourly posts we feared she was very likely left to fend for herself. Since we decided to adopt her she has been the most amazing and curious cat that enjoys some space but is observant from afar (she loves to get onto our roof and watch the world go by). She is very outdoorsy and loves to swap between shade and the sun. The vets believe she is in her senior years and about 10-12 years old.

She wants very little more than a place to catch some sun, 2 square meals a day and the occasional cuddle and stroke to let you know how thankful she is. She was the best big sister to her little brother Jim and despite the age gap she responded to his playfulness with calm.

Our little princess would love a nice quiet life with a loving owner. She never scratches, she never claws and is the most docile lady we know. Please let us know if you are interested in taking on Rosie temporarily (12 months) or permanently as soon as possible. We would love to organise introductions.

Thanks for your help, Dion

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.

Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.

For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.

Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?

We hope this brings a smile!
