Whangaparāoa dad thought he had a parasite, but it was cancer

Brittany Keogh Reporter from Rodney Times

Hi neighbours, When Whangaparāoa man Darrell Poole first noticed gurgling sounds and cramping coming from his intestine, he thought he had a parasite.
But, just days before Christmas 2019, a colonoscopy revealed a much more sinister reason for the symptoms – aggressive colon cancer.
The dad of two has been told he has no further treatment options in NZ and is fundraising to get to the US to participate in a drug trial that will cost between $200,000 and $1 million. Read more about his story by clinking the below link.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
