Silverdale Park n Ride bus stop

Rob from Manly

I sent a message to Auckland Transport re when the actual bus station part was going to be finished.

I got 2 replies stating 2 different things ...
1st reply on 5 July
The second phase is the busway building construction. This is being tendered shortly and is expected to be completed by mid-2019. We are also hoping to add another 90 carparks to the park and ride area during the second phase of stage two. At this time, we are currently waiting on an environment court decision which we can expect in two months.

2nd reply 24 July
Unfortunately the time frame for the construction of the station building has changed primarily due to the delay in finalising the station design and in addition to this a delay in acquiring the resource consent for the additional 90 car parks. The expected construction time frame for the station building is from October 2018 to June 2019.

So the actual bus station part either (a) hasn't been designed yet or (B)the council haven't tendered out for the building of it yet depending on which reply you go with, either way nothing will be done till at least October. But as AKL Transport advised a finish date of June next year I wouldn't be hopeful of anything being done till mid 2019.
There is no reason why they cant complete the building of the station while they argue about the resource consent for the extra 90 car parks. By the time they add the car parks they will wish it was an extra 290...not the short sighted 90 they have planned for now.

Poll: Are you still heading to your local for your caffeine fix, or has the $$ changed your habits? ☕

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Auckland has a thriving cafe culture, but with costs climbing, that culture is under pressure. We’ve seen the headlines about recent closures across the country, and it’s a tough pill to swallow along with a $6+ coffee.

We all want our favourite spots to stay open, but we also have to balance our own budgets ⚖️

We want to know: How are you handling the "coffee math" in 2026? Are you still heading to your local for a chat and a caffeine fix, or has the cost of living changed your habits?

Keen to read more about "coffee math"? The Post has you covered.
