SH2 Waimana Gorge to remain one lane while more rain expected

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The NZ Transport Agency says work is continuing to clear the slip in the Waimana Gorge in eastern Bay of Plenty but the road will need to stay partially closed.

The road closed Sunday night after heavy rain and opened to one lane yesterday afternoon. Further inspection has revealed more debris may fall. It’s likely to stay one lane until later this week while NZTA wait for forecast heavy rain to pass. Work to clear the slip will continue when it’s safe to do so.

NZTA say they would like to apologise in advance for any delay the clearing work may cause. People should check the NZTA website, NZTA local social media or call 0800 4 HIGHWAYS before they travel.
