NZ MADE/NĀ NIU TĪRENI: Ngāti Awa - our story

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In August 1865, a Crown force of about 500 men, drawn largely from neighbouring iwi, entered the rohe of Ngāti Awa in Eastern Bay of Plenty to execute an arrest warrant for the killing of a Crown official, James Te Mautaranui Fulloon.

Find out more about what happened to Ngāti Awa, where you live, and how much the land was settled for - it may surprise.
