Rangiora's growth inspires council to work on charming, modern town plan

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from Northern Outlook

“Charismatic and contemporary’’ is how the Waimakariri District Council hopes Rangiora will be viewed into the next decade and beyond.

The Rangiora Town Centre Strategy – Blueprint to 2030+ – seeks to support the town's projected rapid growth from its current population of 18,000 to 30,000 by 2048.

Rangiora is the local service centre for more than 60 per cent of the Waimakariri district, and with the continued need to keep up with the population, the council has been investigating ways to increase opportunities for residential and business growth.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
