Why Choose Prenatal Yoga?
Pregnancy is the 9 month period where the body goes through the most changes in such a short time that the woman is predominantly in a state of introspection. It's a time where she is questioning her choices around keeping herself physically, mentally and emotionally well for the sake of baby. From a Yoga perspective it is the most feminine physical state she can be in and some say the closest a woman can become enlightened for several reasons: 1) she is immersed in the creation process and can quietly tune into this on the inner levels. 2) she will enter a state of complete surrender in the birthing process. 3) she is embarking on an introspective journey to discover who she is.
At this time she can also become very conscious of the traits of her unborn child and may even connect with her/him on the inner levels. Attending Pregnancy Yoga at this time helps her on her introspective journey and gives her confidence to listen to the wise inner voice that becomes "mother's intuition". Prenatal Yoga will help her develop her intuition through breathing techniques and sensing into each asana (pose) to use her breath as a guide to focus and later surrender to the process. Sound in combination with the breath may also be used. The classes will strengthen, stretch and support her. It's also a beautiful time to develop a community of mothers and sometimes these groups stay together for years to come.
