This IS overcharging - $2000 or $2500 PLUS 'disbursements' - for straight-forward probate? No....
Someone elsewhere in New Zealand (whose identity or locality I shall not disclose) told me of two law firms who quoted $2000 and $2500 respectively, plus disbursements, for an application for probate.
I can confirm that there was nothing complicated about the application. It fell easily within my standard application service for $400.
That is price gouging. There is no basis for it. None. (And yes, you may quote me.)
