Did you know you can recycle your household batteries for free?
We have created seven drop-off stations around the city where you can take your batteries to be separated for re-use, recovery and re-processing.
The locations are:
📍 Island Bay Community Centre
📍 Karori Library
📍 Kilbirnie Library
📍 Newlands Community Centre
📍 Tawa Community Centre
📍 Te Awe Library (CBD)
📍 Tip Shop at the Southern Landfill
Used batteries are no longer allowed in your kerbside rubbish as they can leach harmful chemicals into soil and waterways, so it’s important to keep them out of the landfill.

My triple carport’s 2 front supporting steel posts are rusting ( see photos). One of them has had a product put on by a handyman quite some years ago. The 4 posts at the back are ok. Can anyone tell me who or which company I can call to repair these? The carport is about 25 years old.
Also, the colour-steel roof needs repainting . ( all lichen etc, has been removed) Any recommendations on who could do a good and reasonably priced job?
Kia ora neighbours, experience an interactive digital walk-through of KiwiRail’s new Kaiwharawhara ferry terminal precinct at our community drop-in – Pipitea Marae, 55-59 Thorndon Quay, 13 July, 12.30pm – 3pm.
Check out the concept designs for the new terminal and the bigger, hybrid-electric Interisland ferries we’re having custom-built. Work will start shortly on the terminal redevelopment, ready for the arrival of the new ferries from 2025.
The Interislander journey across Te Moana o Raukawakawa (Cook Strait) is one of the most spectacular in the world and we’re creating a customer experience to match.
Come and kōrero with the team working on this awesome project. We’d love to see you there.
