"The great thing about going back to a favourite place is that you are always guaranteed to see something a bit different every time. I couldn't get enough of the redpolls that I happened to spot bathing at the water's edge near the playground. It was magical!
Unfortunately the ducklings had gone from at least about 30 to none at all yesterday so I think that the kāhu would have been working his way through them.
Plenty of yellowhammers and rosellas to be seen too! I loved seeing the Australian shovellers up at the Bridge by the Hobbit sign."

Our crews have responded to a burst pipe on Waring Taylor St in the CBD.

The affected area is Waring Taylor Street from Lambton Quay to Featherston Street, as shown in the map below.

They're working hard to fix the issue as soon as they can.

From approximately 6:15pm tonight, water will have to be turned off to the affected area. We expect the outage to last until late evening.

This year Ryman was selected as a finalist for Best Provider Nationwide, and Diana Isaac took home Best Large Retirement Village / Lifestyle Village.

The awards, run by agedadvisor.co.nz are based on almost 11,300 reviews and ratings for more than 890 facilities. Over 1600 of those in-depth reviews went towards this year’s awards.

Do you know a Māori/Pacific* student in Year 11/12 eager to expand their horizons?

Would they like to study the International Baccalaureate with change-making youth from around the world, at an international boarding school in one of 18 locations across the world?

Applications are now open for UWC Aotearoa New Zealand 2024 scholarships and places.

Full and part scholarships are available (needs-assessed), as well as unfunded places.

Applicants must be New Zealand citizens ordinarily resident in New Zealand, who will be aged 16 or 17 on 1 August 2023, completing NCEA Level 1 or higher (or equivalent) by the end of 2023.

Applicants should be academically strong, emotionally resilient, physically active, and involved in their school or local community.

Application forms and more information are available at www.nz.uwc.org... . We welcome stage 1 of applications now - full applications close on Friday 26 January 2024.

*Two of our scholarships this year are tagged for Māori or Pacific candidates, and could be full scholarships if financial need is established. Other scholarships are also available open to any candidate.
