2022 Wairarapa Wines Harvest festival - on sale now

The Team from Destination Wairarapa

For the first time Wairarapa Wines Harvest Festival will be held on TWO DAYS - Friday 25 and Saturday 26 February 2022.
Tickets are now on sale and you'll be able to book your bus transport too.
At Harvest, vineyards pair up with regional restaurants and produce outstanding local festival dishes. You can sample wines from not only the larger, better known Wairarapa wineries but also from some of the smaller boutique wineries in the region. You'll even get the opportunity to meet the wine makers from the vineyards involved. Festival goers can relax under the old trees listening to live music.

The festival is held at a beautiful, sheltered riverside setting locally known as ‘The Cliffs' on the banks of the Ruamahunga River at the end of Dakins Road in rural Wairarapa, just 10 minutes drive from both Masterton and Carterton. Festival goers can come via train from Wellington and take a shuttle buses to get to the festival - it's all part of a great day. Tickets are here: outwww.iticket.co.nz...

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.

Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.

For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.

Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?

We hope this brings a smile!
