Grasslees Reserve, 11 Luckie Street, Tawa, Wellington
BYO Picnic
FREE EVENT

Tawa Rotary Club will be marking the end of summer with a free afternoon picnic concert at the Grasslees Reserve featuring the Royal New Zealand Air Force Concert and Jive Bombers Bands.

The Concert Band will be playing music from Hollywood hits to South American rhythms and their Jive Bombers covers band playing a selection of hits ranging from Stevie Wonder to Dua Lipa. Both bands will feature vocalists.

Tawa broadcaster, Jason Pine, will be master of ceremonies for what will be great family entertainment and a toe-tapping soundtrack to a relaxing Sunday afternoon. It may even get you dancing!

There will also be performances by Tawa College’s Kapa Haka group and Grace Notes barbershop quartet, while Foxtail Events (on behalf of WCC Pārekareka) and Tū Mātau Ora will be providing a fun space for kids offering traditional Māori games and more!

A sausage sizzle will supplement your BYO picnic basket.

Tawa Rotary is grateful to Tawa New World, Mexted Motors and Whittakers for their support of this event.

New Zealand's small businesses have had another tough few weeks. We're calling on you, wherever you are across the country, to recognise a local business making a difference in your community.

We all love a cheeky grin and a wave from our local grocer, or a toot from the delivery driver, or a coffee order that’s ready before we arrive. These are the business owners who remind us we're home.

Give your favourite local business owner the recognition they deserve by nominating them in the 2023 Prospa Local Business Hero awards.

Currently Agapanthus is setting seed everywhere and thereby becomes a danger for the environment, as it is actually an invasive weed. Put the seeds in the yellow sacks for kerb collection (remember: only 10% garden waste is allowed in these bags!) or dispose larger amounts at garden waste at the tip. (Do not home compost them!)This would help prevent this plant from settling where it should not be. For further details see the attachment here or our facebook page. Karori Kaitiaki
