It's been a while since my last post as Vice President Public Relations for Newtown Toastmasters club and while Jane, who's our VPPR, is currently overseas, guess who's baaaaack!!
Our club theme tonight is:
Impromptu Speaking - which for some people is more scary than ghosts and goblins! Get ready to step outside your comfort zone and tackle this topic head on. Other than Table Topics, you'll also get to play some theatre sport games as well as charades.
Come and celebrate the evening with us and wear a novelty hat as well (optional 😀).
See you at 7:30pm tonight, at the Newtown Community Center!
All Welcome.

However, critics say they’re dangerous and people are injured by them every year. Fans, on the other hand, argue that all fun involves some level of risk, it just needs to be managed safely.
Last year, we saw a 23% drop in the number of fireworks-related injury claims (171 claims across 2017 versus 223 across 2016). What do you think? Should personal fireworks be banned? Click here for advice on how to use fireworks responsibly.

Vinnies Wellington is hosting a Free Shop and Community Lunch on Saturday 17 November. We currently have booked the old Caltex space on Riddiford Street, with the vision to transform it into a vibrant outdoor shop and community (food court style) lunch.
The last Free Shop held in August 2018, saw 700 people attend. We targeted marketing to social housing, social services and community support groups to make sure we were able to support the most vulnerable in our community.
We aim to make this a community event. Encompassing the name ‘Better off Together’ we are calling on community groups, religious groups, businesses, organisations, families and individuals to prepare food and serve the lunch – and we hope you can be one of them.
Prepare Food: to be ready for Saturday 17 Nov, 11am
• Baking
• Salads
• BBQ’s will be available on the day to cook (meat, halal, vegetarian)
• Vegetarian dishes
• Soups
• Sandwiches
We invite you to bring your teams, your families, your friends, your congregations and let’s show our community that we’re better off together.
We’d love to hear your thoughts and any questions you may have.
