The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Many members have been in touch about ways to honour Millane's memory and process grief. Groups around the country have organised vigils to honour British backpacker Grace Miliane - and also express solidarity for women in New Zealand who have experienced violence.

Nelson's Santa

Inga from Brooklyn

I really do not understand the problem. Santa can be any colour he/she likes - never heard of Christmas magic? Just like children come in all colours so does Santa. If we kept up all our 'traditions' women still wouldn't have the vote, couldn't work when they married etc - I … View moreI really do not understand the problem. Santa can be any colour he/she likes - never heard of Christmas magic? Just like children come in all colours so does Santa. If we kept up all our 'traditions' women still wouldn't have the vote, couldn't work when they married etc - I could go on about the traditional past inequalities in societies. We all know that many inequalities and prejudices still exist in our society, so I hope it is time to let Santa be who he/she wants to be and give children of all colours a feeling of belonging and self-worth.

Hi folks! Myself and my 3 year old are new in the Owhiro Bay neighbourhood. We've got a great place on Happy Valley Road - we just need someone to move in with us!
Our lifestyle is quiet nights and early mornings, so seeking a kid friendly person who is fine with that. There are actually 2 rooms available - the smaller fits a single bed. Both have cupboards. Rent is $170 for 1 room or $245 for both, plus approx $30 a week for expenses.
Happy with couples, cats (love cats), students, workers, in-betweeners. Not worried about your age, just looking for someone who looks after the place and is reliable, friendly and mature. Ideally move in ASAP.
There's a bus service that's now extended to weekends and parking is on street. You will need to be able-bodied as there are steps up to the house.
We love this area and are really looking forward to having a kind lovely person move in with us :)
You can email sakkeil@gmail.com any time.

With warmer weather heading our way, gardening is a great way to stay fit and get regular doses of Vitamin D to help strengthen our bones.

The Home Safety checklist will give you practical tips on how to avoid falls, sprains and strains while pulling those stubborn weeds. For example, when you’re gardening avoid heavy lifting and use long-handled tools so you’re not bending over for long periods. Steady yourself when bending and standing, no pesky weed is worth falling for!

A new movement called Live Stronger for Longer is helping to reduce the risk of falls by providing practical information and free resources. We want to help you stay on your feet, and living the life you want to live.

Take the home safety checklist with your friends and family and join the movement today.

Proudly brought to you by ACC, HQ&SC, MOH and your local community health providers.
