Parking on footpaths could soon become an offence in Wellington, following public complaints about increased risks to pedestrians and a lack of space for emergency vehicles.
The change is being proposed as part of Wellington City Council’s new parking policy, introduced in August, which aims to reduce reliance on private vehicles, manage increasing parking demands and make it easier to travel around the city.
The proposed new law would instigate a city-wide ban on parking on, or partially on, footpaths across the city, with infringement notices to be issued at the discretion of parking wardens.
It would overturn a 2005 council decision which permitted footpath parking anywhere in Wellington apart from the central city and suburban centres, provided at least one metre of footpath space was left for footpath users.

About Addictive Eaters Anonymous Meetings
Many of us felt nervous when attending our first meeting, or when picking up the phone to make that first call to an AEA member. We’ve all been there. We found there was no need to worry. We were welcomed by people who understood our problem, who did not judge us, and who offered a solution in the Twelve Steps of Addictive Eaters Anonymous. Meetings are equally as important for AEA ‘old-timers’ as they are for newcomers. Members find they need regular meetings to maintain emotional sobriety, and to experience the joy of carrying the message of recovery to another addictive eater.

Hullo Neighbours, it is not Friday Feathered Friend but I thought you might enjoy this post from Rosa Marie.

"The morning just got better and better for me, thanks to Nycki Proctor who messaged me to say that a hawk had got into her neighbour's empty aviary through an opened door and couldn't get out again and did I want to come around and photograph it?
Apparently it had got in before through a hole in the wire which had since been fixed up but it was still trying to get out that way!
Luckily it was still in the aviary, even with the door wide open, so I took lots of photos of it before we decided that I needed to climb up the ladder and prise open the mended part for it. After I got down, it was still in the aviary so I just kept snapping away at it till it figured out how to get out again. It then did a bit a circle around the house to say goodbye before it flew off into the distance.
A lovely way of getting myself invited for a coffee and a good old chat!
I have since been made to realise that this is a falcon/karearea."

Please take a few minutes to let them know what you thought in this short online survey. Your feedback will help them to make your next experience on this Great Ride even better. Plus the number of completed surveys directly impacts future funding for trail enhancements.

If your answer is "NO" then put the Remutaka Cycle Trail on your bucket list as this is our region’s Nga Haerenga/Great Ride. It runs from Petone foreshore along the Hutt River Trail, over the Rail Trail to the Wairarapa, down to Ocean Beach, and around the Wild Coast to Orongorongo. You can dip in for a short experience on any section or take a few days to ride the whole trail.

"I was an unplanned pregnancy and brought to the SPCA to find a home.
I may look like a typical wild rabbit, but I can assure you I am not. My Mum was a domestic rabbit and super sweet. I am good with people I know, and am still young and still learning. I have an inquisitive nature and would love a home with people who will have me around them, either as a solely indoor rabbit, or mostly indoors. I will need a large outdoor area with a weatherproof hutch or shelter for days when the weather is nice. I will need to be inside as part of the family at night, so a hutch or area inside with you is important. I would also like a female rabbit for company, so if you have a lonely rabbit maybe we could be friends?
