Are curtains good for insulation?
- Absolutely. Curtains reduce the amount of air exchange between a cold window and the rest of the room. For keeping heat inside the home, high quality curtains can reduce heat loss by around 40%, particularly if they are floor length and close to the wall and window panes. The insulation efficiency depends on the fabric type (closed or open weave), colour and weight.
While double-glazing is another effective method of preventing heat loss from windows, curtains and drapes can also make a room look and feel cosier when it’s cold outside, particularly if you choose plush or heavy fabrics.

Hutt City Rotary Club president Gaylene Hughes says the raffle has the support of all the regions Rotary clubs and she is hoping to sell 12,000 tickets by May.
With Covid-19 rampant it is a hard time to sell a raffle, which has a first prize of a 2022 Kia Picanto valued at $23,000.
She hopes that corporates will get on board by buying large blocks of the remaining tickets and the Toblerone is being offered as an incentive. Corporates who buy tickets will go into a draw for the chocolate.

Our forever home would have no other dogs or cats and children. We’re an older pair, so on the hunt for a home to live out of golden years – the best years of our lives! Very comfortable but well used. 3 seater sofa with recliners at both ends. No stains but discoloured on headrests. Would look fine with a throw over the back. Free to a good home but must be picked up by Wednesday 6th April. Has a metal frame so it's heavy - bring a couple of mates!
Hi - does anybody know of someone who has a mini digger that could come and move a mound of earth and spread it over an old lawn? about 2m x 2m and 1m high. Small job but I'll pay as much as poss. In Brooklyn and access very good. Need done by Fri April 1.
