Hey neighbours, right now the council are discussing your pets! They are thinking about new locations for dog parks around the city and a $300 fine for walking a dog without a poo bag. Heaps of us got new furry friends over lockdown, with 15,000 dogs now living in Wellington (although cats are still our most popular pets, with 28,000 registered). Even pets like goats, bees and chickens are on the rise. Soon the council will want your opinion on these changes and which fluffy or feathered friends should be allowed in the city. Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
