Join Wellington's Polish community for a taste of Poland at Little Poland at the Newtown Festival, 10 am to 7pm Sunday 2 March, Arney St, Newtown.

Relax in our family friendly pop-up beer garden while you eat, drink and take in the entertainment.

Polish pierogi (dumplings), racuchy and placki (pancakes), paczki (doughnuts), charcoal grilled smoked sausages and pork belly, deli style sandwiches and a comprehensive range of Poland's most popular beers

10 to 10:30am Polish regional dances
11:30am to noon Interactive Dance Fun for Kids
12:30 to 1pm Steps through Poland: learn the steps to Poland's national dances.
3 to 3:30pm The Klezmer Rebs Parade ends in Little Poland
5pm ish Wellington Batucada arrive in Little Poland
4:30 to 7pm The Little Poland After Party featuring the Klezmer Rebs and Polish Party band Krakerjack.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
