Recycling update

Wellington City Council

Mōrena Pōneke.

Just a reminder that glass collections are still paused as several of our waste collection contractors are unwell with COVID-19.

In the meantime, residents can either stockpile their glass or drop it off for free at the Recycling Station at the Southern Landfill.

Rubbish and co-mingled recycling are being collected as usual for now – but some co-mingled items may go to Landfill depending on staff capacity at the sorting plant on the day.

In the meantime, if you want to ensure all your glass collection is processed, you can drop it at our Recycle Centre, or stockpile until we are back to full capacity

We apologise for this disruption. Our thoughts are with our contractors and we wish them a speedy recovery.

FREE 10-liter emergency water bottles

Michael from Newtown

Merry Christmas -

I have around twenty, empty 10-liter distilled water bottles to serve as emergency water storage. I saved them for my friends, but they already have their own water supplies. Take as many as you like. Please respond to this notice if you are interested.

Best wishes - Michael

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
